In 1989 Bruce wrote a song for the 5th Nightmare on Elmstreet
film, "The dream child" by Stephen Hopkins. The song appears,
only for a few seconds, very far back in the sound mix in a scene
where the main character is walking through a park and sees some
young girls playing around singing a Freddy Kreuger child song.
This was supposed to be a one off contribution to the movie, but the record company liked the song so much that they offered Bruce the opportunity to record a solo album, which he then did (Tattooed millionaire). The band playing on "Bring your daughter..." are the same guys that play on the "Tattooed millionaire" album.
Two totally different versions of the movie soundtrack was released. The first version was the one with "Bring your daughter..." and other tracks by other bands on it, the second being an actual soundrack of the incidential music.
It was recorded by Chris Tsangarides on June 23 1989.
The bands and tracks on the CD are:
Bruce Dickinson - Bring your daughter to the slaughter
Romeo's daughter - Heaven in the backseat
W.A.S.P. - Savage
Mammoth - Can't take the hurt
Slave Raider - What do you know about rock 'n' roll?
Whodini - Any way I gotta swing it
Samantha Fox - Now I lay me down
Kool Moe Dee - Let's go
Doctor Ice - Word up Doc!
Scholly D - Livin' in the jungle
The soundtrack actually won a Golden Raspberry Award in the category "worst original music" but it remains unconfirmed which version this well earned (?) award was refering to. It is possibly the second version.
Steve Harris, though, obviously liked this song so much that he persuaded Bruce not to use it on his solo album and save it for the next Iron Maiden album (No prayer for the dying) album.
The soundtrack (version I) was released by JIVE music in 1989 (1258-2-J).
