Status update on the movie
The latest news on Bruce's film project
is that it is now closer to becoming a reality than ever before.
80% of the finances have been sorted out and if everything goes according to plan
they should be fully sorted out in the new year. If so the film will
go into production the first half of 2007.
Bruce is planning to do the music for the movie together with Roy Z and he has a pretty clear idea of what he wants it to be like; a very sparse soundtrack in the vein of 70s movies.
The film is a joint venture of Bill and Ben (the same people that were
behind Messiah Pictures) and Focus Features. Without giving too much
of the plot away we can reveal that it is set in modern day Oxford and
is based on Alister Crowley's thoughts and doings. The working title has been
"The chemical wedding" from day one and we have no info that says that this
has changed.
The DVD will contain three discs with live material, promo videos and various other bits.
The first disc is comprised of live stuff and features the original
Dive dive Live video and the Japan only Skunkworks live Video.
The second disc features a a video from the live screen feed from one of São Paulo
gigs during which "Scream for me Brazil" was recorded.
The third disc contains all promo videos with comments from Bruce on the thoughts
and ideas behind the videos. Included is also a "Tyranny of souls EPK"
(Electronic Promotion Kit) on which Bruce gives some insight in the process of mamking
and recording the album with Roy Z. The last item on the disc is a gem from Bruce's past
in Samson, the "Biceps of steel" video. This 10 minute video was directed by Julien Temple
(Sex Pistol's "The great rock 'n' roll swindle") and features two Samson tracks mimed on
stage interleaved with some sort of storyline.

It remains to be seen if this date for the world wide release or only for Europe. This is what Bruce had to say about the album in a recent Classic Rock interview;
The article states concerning the lyrics that "...a loose theme of aviation and sci-fi binds together 'Kill Devil Hill', 'Abduction' and a number of others.""With this album, Maiden were completely off my radar scope. I was worried that I couldn't follow ...Wedding, which was a real statement of identity for me. It needed to be very heavy, which it is, but also to throw a few different elements into the mix."

As on the two previous studio albums Bruce has worked closely together with Roy Z in writing the material as well as recording it. Apart from this Roy also produced as well as performed all the guitars for the album. There is no info on any other musicians on the album apart from the keyboard parts by Maestro Mysterioso that, according to the article, supplied his part via e-mail.
The Well-being network have looked into the possibility of conducting an interview with Bruce for the site, but the reply from Sanctuary was Bruce won't do any interviews or promo in conncetion to the album release! The latter bit seems a bit odd and we hope to be proven wrong.
So tune in to see Bruce flying a pre-war DC3, cruising over the Florida Everglades in a Boeing 727, reliving the hair-raising experience of a night landing in one of the oldest Tiger Moths still flying, and roller-blading around the two decks of Airbus’s new monster - the A380.

Full details can be found at the IronMaiden.com.
Whilst on the subject of Bruce and the Discovery Channel, Discovery Europe has been running a program called "Ultimate Trains" since spring 2004. This program features Bruce appearing as the dedicated trainspotter he is, talking about the British Railway system and his favourite train. The show is still running, check out the Disvocery Europe website for details on when to tune in. 2005-01-15
Also, the DVD still has no set release schedule. However, Bruce's american record label has apparently confirmed that the DVD will be released on March 22 in the US. No word concerning a new album, though. In other words, things still seem very tentative and dates may be purely speculation.

As reported on the official Iron maiden site
the third edition of "Run to the hills - The authorised biography" is in the pipeline.
This one of course covers most of Bruce's activities since he rejoined Maiden five
years ago, but probably more from the perspective of him as a Maiden frontman rather
than solo artist. The book can be obtained through the official Maiden site.
September also saw the publishing of a book, unique in it's kind. Journalist
Henrik Nykvist has written a book called
"Scream for me, Sweden" that deals with Iron Maiden and their gigs in Sweden. It
also has features on the relationship between Maiden and Swedish media as well as
anecdotes and never before seen photos of the band right from their first ever visit
in 1980 up until 2003 and the Dance of Death-tour.
The wellbeing Network has also been involved in the making of this book, mostly adding
or correcting facts as well as sharing ideas and memories. Go to
www.maidensweden.com
(Swedish only) for more info! The site also has an order form for anyone who
wishes to get this well worth document over Maiden from 1980 until present.
Finally, there is a book entirely dedicated to Bruce Dickinson and his music called
"Tears of the dragon". This is a very special book, written and
compiled by Shervin Siami and A. Reza Noorizadeh, was published some year ago in Iran
and features a Bruce biography and Bruce's lyrics, all in Farsi! This book may be
very difficult to obtain but we'll be happy to relay any requests to the authors.

It might be a poor comfort to some, though, but it looks like the upcoming Maiden
DVD will have some interesting stuff on it. Remains to be seen if they manage to
get it out without too many silly delays.

On the subject of the Bruce DVD; Yest, it is in the works. But as with the possible album, there nothing is decided for sure on what will actually be on it or when it will be out, though it looks like it might be out sometime this year. Word is that the archives are being searched for possible features at the moment.
A qualified guess is that it will probably have all the promovideos (hopefully including "Elected") and it will have live bits as well, from all over Bruce's solo career.
