Bruce is back on the BBC presenting his own Rockshow on BBC6. It will be BBC's first new national music radio station in 32 years. The all-new, digital service went live at 7.00am on Monday, March 11th 2002 when Phill Jupitus opened the mic to present the network’s breakfast show.
Bruce has two weekend shows; The Saturday Rock show on Saturdays in which Bruce plays all kinds of rock music, and the Sunday freak show which is decvoted to the more obscure side of music with features and interviews with people and artists we thought were long gone and forgotten.
The network can be accessed via DAB digital radio, digital satellite television and online, right here. More info can be found at the BBC 6 Music website.
Tune in on saturdays for The Bruce Dickinson
Rockshow
In 1993, Dickinson wrote and presented a Radio 1 series in England, "A History of Heavy Metal", which was nominated for a Sony Award that year. Bruce then began occasionally presenting his own Radio 1 series in 1995.
This show was aired on a weekly basis on BBC's radio 1 and each program featured different artists who used to play live in the BBC studio. In one particular show UK rockers Terrorvision were the guests and they surprised Bruce by playing a jazzy version of "Bring your daughter to the slaughter".
Another memorable broadcast was when Dream Theater were doing a session on the show. They invited Bruce to a gig they were to have at Ronnie Scott's the next week, but as he had to do a radio show that night, he couldn't go.
So, Dream Theater would not leave the studio until they got Bruce to record a splendid rendition of Deep Purple's "Perfect Strangers" with them. Bruce kept this quiet until the last show of the series when his producer persuaded him to air it.
The song is available on a Dream Theater bootleg called "Acoustic dreams", so keep your eyes open when you're in stores looking for boots.
Bruce Dickinson was DJ-ing the Manchester All Rock Radio Station, KLCX 107.4 MHz, alongside with Krusher Joule and Tommy Vance. They delivered 24 hours of rock music all throughout February 1998.
Bruce Dickinson occasionally shows up to host some shows on the
Real Rock Network. This
show is commonly hosted by Radio-icon Tommy Vance and Krusher Joule
as well as ex HBB Vanessa Warwick.
