Thunderstick

Thunderstick now has his own website "The view from the cage". Be sure to check it out!

After leaving the band back in 1981 Thunderstick put together his own soloproject and eventually released one full length album and a 12" EP.

The line-up was: Ben Reeve (bass), Cris Martin (guitar), Neal "Wango Wiggins" Hay (guitar), Jodee Valentine (vocals) and of course Thunderstick himself on drums. Cris Martin had replaced Colin Heart who played on the bands first gig at the Marquee before Jodee Valentine filled the vacant space left by Anna Maria Carmella Borg who replaced the first vocalist Vinnie Monroe.

The band only did one British tour, to support the "Feel like Rock 'n' Roll" (THBE 1.002) which had been released in 1983. The clothes that they are wearing on the picture were their actual stage clothes and the show was very theatrical with Thunderstick attacking the singer at one point in the show!

The songs played were:

Afraid of the Dark
Alecia
Buried alive
Earth Mother(!)
Thunder Thunder
Blackwing
Masquerade (n.b. "Runaround" with different lyrics)
The Shining
Feel like Rock'n'Roll
Lights (take me away)
.

After the tour, the band went to Shepperton to record the album, "The beauty and the beasts" (THBL-008) that came out in 1984 on Thunderbolt Records

Soon after that Cris Martin left to be replaced by Bengt Sorensenn.
