Rock aid Armenia-The earthquake album (1989)

In late 1989 the elite of heavy rock was gathered in a project to raise money to help those affected of the big earthquake in Armenia.

A new recording of Deep Purples "Smoke on the water" was made, with different vocalists singing each verse, Ian Gillan, Bruce Dickinson and Paul Rodgers. Guitarists who contributed were Brian May, David Gilmour, Tony Iommi, Alex Lifeson and Ritchie Blackmore. Keith Emerson and Geoff Downes are responsible for the keyboards and by pure chance Bryan Adams popped down to the studio and recorded some backing vox with Ian Gillan. The rhythm section was Roger Taylor on drums and Chris Squire on bass.

The recording one over five sessions at Metropolis Studios in London and was produced by Gary Langan and Jeff Downes.
