Chris Dale's account of the trip to Bosnia in 1994

In December 1994, while Bruce was touring the "Balls to Picasso" album, he was invited by a Brtitish army officer, Major Martin Morris to play a show in Sarajevo. Bosnia was at the time in the middle of a long and drawn out civil war. Sarajevo itself was under seige. Bruce was the only foreign artist to go through the opposing front lines and play a show during the seige. The story of the band's travels and events is told by the bassist, Chris Dale in the following three articles.

  • Part 1
  • Part 2
  • Part 3
  • Since the publication of these diaries, a Bosnian film company has come forward to produce a documentary on the gig, with interviews from Bruce, the band, UN officers and local fans who survived the war. The documentary will be premiered at the Sarajevo Film Festival in August 2016.
