A History of Heavy Metal (1993)

In 1993, Dickinson wrote and presented a BBC Radio 1 series in England, "A History of Heavy Metal", which was nominated for a Sony Award that year. This led to Bruce then getting his own Radio 1 series in 1995 called "The Bruce Dickinson Rockshow".

Bruce Dickinson Rock Show (1995)

This show was aired on a weekly basis on BBC Radio 1 and each program featured different artists playing live in the BBC studio. UK rockers Terrorvision surprised Bruce by playing a jazzy version of "Bring your daughter to the slaughter".

Another memorable moment was when american prog metalers Dream Theater guested the show and invited Bruce to be a guest at ther gig at Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club the coming week. Bruce was however busy on that evening but Dream Theater refused to leave the studio until they got Bruce to record a splendid rendition of Deep Purple's "Perfect Strangers" with them. Bruce kept this quiet until the last show of the series when his producer persuaded him to air it.

In March 2010 the then Bruce Dickinson's Friday Rock Show was cancelled by the BBC. The final broadcast was on 28 May 2010.
