Name and instrument:
Ray Burke, Bass
What had you been doing before you started working with Bruce?
I was playing in "Life After Death" as well as guesting on Rob Rock's solo records. Also a member of Roy Z's jam band "Serpents & Rainbows".
How did you come to work with Bruce?
I've become great friends with Roy Z ever since playing together in "Warrior". He also produced our L.A.D. record and I've worked with him on various other projects; so through him I was presented with this great opportunity.
Do you remember your first meeting with him?
Several years ago in a studio in L.A., he was very cordial. But I remember the first time I saw Iron Maiden on the Somewhere in Time tour, he was bigger than life.
What are you up to at the moment?
Working on a solo record that is shaping up with many cool guests that I have played with over the years. Also, playing in "Yo Diddley"; a rock/blues band with Phil & Gonzo Sandoval from Armored Saint.
Do you have any fun Bruce anecdotes to share with us?
I remember going to the Maiden show at the Universal Amphitheatre with Roy Z and Bruce gave Roy big props on stage during the show. It's not something he had to do, but it was very cool that he did.
How do you value your work with Bruce compared to other stuff you have made?
This is the biggest thing that I have played on to date. I am extremely honored as well as very excited to be part of such a great record! Thanks again Bruce and Z.
What do you think of his other works?
I love the fact that Bruce has been able to put out solo records that have their own sound; each one is different yet you know it's Bruce right out of the gate. As far as Maiden goes, they are a great band that has always stuck to their guns and I have been a fan since I was a kid.

Ray Burke's own question to himself:
What's the most rewarding thing about your work on "Tyranny of Souls"?
Bruce is and has been one of the strongest voices in metal since day one. Also, the fact that he plays with one of rock's greatest bass players in Steve Harris, makes it a great honor to be involved.
